Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko lodges formal complaint with CAF. Claims referees disallowed two Harambee Stars goals without VAR review. Alleges conspiracy involving referees, commissioner, inspectors & security. Fans echo frustrations, accusing CAF of bias against East African teams. CAF yet to respond to the complaint. The Complaint Mike Sonko has officially written to CAF protesting what he terms as biased officiating during Kenya’s quarter-final clash with Madagascar in the 2025 CHAN tournament on August 22. Disallowed Goals According to Sonko, Kenya was denied two clear goals without a VAR check or proper consultation, actions he says broke CAF’s own statutes. “The officiating was questionable and against fairness, sportsmanship, loyalty, and integrity,” Sonko wrote to CAF. Conspiracy Claims Sonko accused referees, assistant referees, the match commissioner, referee inspector, and even security officers of colluding to block Kenya from reaching the semi-finals. Wider Reaction The Harambee Stars’ exit has sparked outrage online, with many fans supporting Sonko’s stance and demanding accountability from CAF. What Next? CAF has not issued any response to the complaint, but pressure is mounting for investigations into refereeing standards in African football.

Joint MSS and PNH forces launched a night raid on Monday, August 25, 2025. Operation targeted gangs led by “Izo2” at Télcos Station. Several gang members arrested, weapons and materials seized. Roadblocks removed, safe passage restored for residents. Security chiefs warned gangs that impunity is over. Night Raid at Télcos Station In the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2025, security forces from the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) and the Haitian National Police (PNH) carried out a night operation between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. The raid was aimed at retaking Télcos Station from gangs led by the feared figure known as “Izo2.” Specialized units moved methodically, clearing houses and streets to root out armed resistance. Arrests and Seized Weapons During the operation, several gang members were arrested while trying to escape or hide. Security teams also recovered weapons and other materials linked to the criminal group. Roads Reopened for Residents After securing the station, MSS and PNH dismantled gang roadblocks that had blocked key routes to Télcos and Kenscoff. This restored movement for residents who had been trapped by gang control. Strong Warning to Gangs PNH Director General Vladimir Paraison and MSS Force Commander Godfrey Otunge called the operation a major turning point. “The era of gang impunity is over,” they said. They added that more targeted operations are already being planned, warning that any armed group defying state authority will face decisive action.
