Ghana Seeks Extradition of Russian 'Pick-Up Artist' Over Secret Recordings of Women

The Ghanaian government has initiated proceedings to extradite a Russian national accused of secretly filming intimate encounters with multiple women in Ghana and Kenya, then sharing the footage online without consent.

The man, identified in media reports as Vyacheslav Trahov (also known as Yaytseslav), a self-described “pick-up artist” and content creator in his 30s, allegedly approached women in public spaces like malls in Accra and Nairobi, recorded interactions, and uploaded explicit videos to platforms including TikTok, YouTube, and a paid Telegram channel.

Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George condemned the acts as serious cybercrimes under Ghana’s Cybersecurity Act, 2020, which carry a maximum penalty of up to 3 years’ imprisonment.

He has invited the Russian ambassador to discuss the matter and has confirmed the involvement of law enforcement and Interpol to secure extradition.

Local outrage has surged over the non-consensual recordings, with reports linking similar behavior to Kenya. Russia generally does not extradite its citizens, but Ghana plans to pursue the case vigorously, including trial in absentia if necessary.

Over 100 Women Lured to Bed with Video Evidence

Vyacheslav Trahov, began trending across social media platforms after several clips surfaced showing him engaging women in malls, restaurants, and on the streets.

In many of the videos, he is seen striking up conversations, exchanging phone numbers, and later suggesting they spend more time together, with some of the clips showing some of the Ghanaian and kenyan women loosely following him to his apartment.

Some of the ladies in the clips include hotel staff, people’s wives, single mothers, and young ladies, including students.

One of the ladies in the video has reportedly attempted to unalive herself because of the embarrassment, while the hotel staff has reportedly been fired by the company for her unprofessional conduct while on duty.

Vyacheslav Trahov filmed his moments with these ladies using Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, often called Meta Glasses, which are high-tech sunglasses developed through a collaboration between Ray-Ban and Meta Platforms, with built-in technology that allows users to take 12-megapixel photos, record 1080p videos, listen to open-ear audio, and interact with Meta AI using voice commands.

The cameras are positioned as small round lenses at the corners of the frames.

Trahov waited until he left Ghana before posting the clips online, and the clips have generated intense reactions online.
