Famous Radio Presenter Maina Kageni Breaks the Internet After Being “Downgraded” to Economy Class “Nonsense”

Maina Kageni, famous for flying business class and living large, was forced to sit in economy class during a team-building trip and his hilarious meltdown over “seat 263” has left Kenyans laughing, debating privilege, and sharing the clips nonstop.

The veteran radio presenter has gone viral after openly lamenting being seated in economy class during a company team-building trip a rare situation for a man who openly admits he prefers business class or nothing.

Seat 263? I Didn’t Know Planes Go That Far Back!

In a video shared on his social media, Maina was filmed at the airport holding his boarding pass, clearly unimpressed by his assigned seat.

“Can you imagine this nonsense? Seat 263. I didn’t even know a plane goes that far back. This team building is nonsense,” he said.

Moments later, another clip showed him already seated on the plane, struggling to plug in his headphones and looking completely out of place.

“How do you do this economy thing? Where is the champagne? Let us start there,” he asked, triggering instant reactions online.

How Rich Is Maina Kageni Really?

For context, Maina once revealed that his first-ever salary was KSh 42,000, earned while working at Royal Card, a company owned by his uncle, SK Macharia.

Fast forward to today:

* Industry reports (2024) estimate Maina earns over KSh 2 million monthly

* He is consistently ranked among Kenya’s highest-paid radio presenters

* Known for luxury cars, premium travel, and elite social circles

Which explains why economy class felt like culture shock.

Kenyans React: “Our Problems Are Not the Same”

The comments section quickly became very active with different users sharing there own personal views about the same situation:

“Only Maina can insult team building on camera and still keep his job.”

“‘I didn’t know a plane goes that far back’ legendary line.”

“Backbencher ndani ya Boeing 😂.”

“Watu wa economy bora tuko window seat. Business class tulia.”

Others jokingly reminded him that most Kenyans would gladly take that “nonsense” trip without complaints.
