Elon Musk Blasts ‘Massive Cyberattack’ on X, Dark Storm Team Claims Responsibility

Elon Musk Blasts: Elon Musk has revealed that X, formerly known as Twitter, was hit by a massive cyberattack, leaving thousands of users unable to log in. According to Downdetector, over 40,000 reports of login failures were recorded throughout Monday, highlighting the scale of the disruption.

Who Was Behind the Massive Cyberattack on X?

Musk suggested that a well-coordinated group or even a nation-state might be responsible for the massive cyberattack. He posted on X:

Dark Storm Team Takes Responsibility

Hacking group Dark Storm Team has reportedly claimed responsibility for the massive cyberattack on X. In a post on Telegram, they stated they successfully “took Twitter offline” and shared a screenshot showing failed connections from multiple locations worldwide.

What is Dark Storm Team?

Dark Storm Team is a hacking collective known for its advanced cyber warfare tactics. Established in 2023, the group is said to have a pro-Palestinian agenda, according to cybersecurity firm Orange Cyberdefense.

Last month, the group vowed to launch cyberattacks on NATO nations, Israel, and other pro-Israel countries. Their latest massive cyberattack on X appears to be part of this broader strategy.

How the Attack Affected X Users

Reports indicate that the massive cyberattack led to significant outages at multiple times throughout Monday.

  • At 10 AM (UK time), a sharp increase in outage reports was recorded.
  • Another surge in issues occurred at 2 PM, leaving users unable to access the platform.

A source within the internet infrastructure industry told Reuters that the platform was targeted by waves of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, which aim to overload a network and make it inaccessible.

Cybersecurity Experts Warn of More Attacks

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) warns that DoS and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks are becoming increasingly common and can disrupt entire networks. Cyber experts suggest that this massive cyberattack on X may not be the last, as hacking groups escalate their online offensives.

Elon Musk’s Response to the X Cyberattack

Following the massive cyberattack, Elon Musk assured users that his team is actively working to mitigate future threats. However, with groups like Dark Storm Team targeting major platforms, cybersecurity remains a growing concern.

Will X Recover Quickly?

As X battles to restore full functionality, experts believe that strengthening its security infrastructure will be crucial in preventing further massive cyberattacks. With hackers growing bolder, the digital battlefield is becoming more intense.
