Diamond Platnumz and Mbosso Feud Escalates Online

Diamond and Mbosso are locked in a public fallout over songwriting credit and loyalty.

Diamond Platnumz went public on Instagram Stories, saying he never wanted the issue with Mbosso to play out online. He claimed he had called and messaged Mbosso privately, showing proof that he was being wrongly accused.

Diamond stressed that disagreements in record labels are normal and that not all artistes react the same when they part ways. He also reminded Mbosso that collaborations outside Wasafi should not be seen as betrayal.

On the claims of jealousy over Pawa, Diamond questioned:
“Why would I be jealous? Did Pawa even surpass Sele in success? And did you write it all alone?”

He further said he had made big sacrifices for Mbosso, from writing “90 per cent” of his songs to offering him over Tsh323 million in financial help without demanding repayment.

Mbosso replied with respect, thanking Diamond for his guidance but distancing himself from talk of jealousy. He said Diamond was his leader and mentor, adding:
“I cannot be jealous of you. You are ahead of me in everything, and my respect for you will remain forever.”

Mbosso insisted he would not take blame for Baba Levo’s remarks and explained that he had always played his role in Wasafi’s success. He suggested Diamond had been holding his feelings for a long time and was now letting them out.

The feud started when Baba Levo, a close ally of Diamond, demanded that Mbosso give 50 per cent songwriting credit for Pawa to Diamond. Mbosso pushed back, saying he wrote the song himself and had supported Diamond in the past without seeking recognition.

Despite the drama, Pawa has turned into a massive hit, gaining more than 24 million views on YouTube in just one month.

This is not the first time Diamond has clashed with former Wasafi signees. Years ago, his split with Harmonise also spilt onto Instagram, with both sides accusing each other of bad faith.

Like with Harmonise, the fallout with Mbosso shows the tension that often follows when Wasafi artistes decide to go independent.
