Grace Springer, 28, filmed the viral Coldplay “kiss cam” clip on July 16 at Gillette Stadium.

A light-hearted concert moment has turned into a viral scandal after Grace Springer, a 28-year-old fan, captured a “kiss cam” scene during Coldplay’s July 16 performance at Gillette Stadium. The footage, which shows Chris Martin jokingly pointing out a cuddling couple in the audience, quickly took an unexpected turn once the pair’s identities surfaced online.

In the now-viral clip, Martin pauses mid-performance to comment on the affectionate couple, teasing, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The moment drew laughter from the crowd of over 50,000 but later caused a stir when the man was identified as Andy Byron, CEO of data company Astronomer, accompanied by his colleague, Kristin Cabot.

Byron, who is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, faced immediate backlash. Megan has since removed his last name from her social profiles and deleted her Facebook account. On July 18, Astronomer announced Byron had been placed on leave, and he resigned the following day. The company’s cofounder, Pete DeJoy, has stepped in as interim CEO.

Speaking on U.K.’s This Morning, Springer defended herself, saying she only wanted to see herself on the big screen and did not expect the video to go viral. “I love to capture moments… if it hadn’t been me, it would’ve been someone else,” she said. While acknowledging the pain caused, she emphasised she never profited from the incident:

“It’s not monetised. I’ve made no money from the video itself or the views.”

Kristin Cabot, who joined Astronomer in November 2024, has not made any public statements. The viral video continues to circulate, sparking debates about social media ethics, public exposure, and the unintended consequences of going viral in the digital age.
