The family of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo is still grappling with her sudden death, and now, a heated debate has emerged over the future of her two children, Sky Victor and Danivictor.

The singer passed away on November 10 while undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of blood cancer at Kenyatta National Hospital.

During a recent TikTok Live session, Betty’s brother, Edward Kang’ethe Mbugua, shared emotional details about her final days.

He claimed the family learned of her deteriorating condition too late, only discovering she was critically ill when she had already been admitted.

Mbugua also addressed the custody debate that has dominated social media since Betty’s death. The children had been living with their mother and her partner, Hiram “Tash” Gitau, at Edenville Estate.

Despite the kids maintaining a good relationship with Tash, Mbugua insisted that they should now live with their biological father, Pastor Victor Kanyari.

He argued that Kanyari has always remained present in their lives, even after his separation from Betty following the infamous KSh 310 scandal.

According to him, the fact that the children still have a living father should be the guiding factor in determining custody.

Blind husband regains his sight, but doesn’t tell his wife and he realizes he’s been lied to for years.

Mbugua dismissed suggestions that the kids should choose where they want to stay, insisting they are still too young to make such a decision.

He further warned that no one has the right to move the children out of the country without the family’s approval.

He revealed that the debate has taken an emotional toll on Kanyari, who recently reached out to him regarding the matter. He added that the pastor met the children days after Betty’s death, though he did not enter her home.

Mbugua also claimed that Betty and Tash were never legally married, saying what the public saw online was merely a celebration rather than a formal union.
