Chad has stopped giving visas to U.S. citizens in direct response to America’s recent travel ban.

In a clear statement on Facebook, President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno announced that Chad will no longer issue visas to American citizens. His response came after the United States placed travel restrictions on several African countries, including Chad.

Déby called the U.S. policy “unfair and discriminatory,” adding that Chad’s new step is based on fairness and respect. “We don’t have planes or billions to offer, but we do have pride,” he declared, showing that the country values its honor above external approval.

He instructed government officials to act on the principle of reciprocity—treating others the same way they treat Chad. This firm message has drawn support from many Africans who feel Western nations often act without respect toward the continent.

Anger Builds Across Africa Over U.S. Travel Ban

The travel ban, announced by President Donald Trump’s administration, currently affects 12 countries—more than half of them from Africa. Others affected include Latin American and Asian nations.

The African Union has already voiced strong disapproval, saying the restrictions are politically driven and lack fairness. Critics argue that the ban lumps together nations without proper reason, and it hurts ties between the U.S. and Africa.

Chad’s move may encourage other African countries to stand up against what they see as unfair treatment. While it may not shift U.S. policy immediately, the message is clear: African nations are ready to defend their dignity, even against powerful global players.
