Borussia Dortmund sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea on a five-year deal worth around £24m.
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of England youth international Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea.
The midfielder, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund, joins permanently on a five-year contract.
The deal is valued at about £24m.
Chukwuemeka’s departure adds to Chelsea’s major summer clear-out, with sales now bringing in over £270m.
This figure nearly balances the club’s £277m spending on new signings.
Defender Aaron Anselmino is also heading to Dortmund on a season-long loan, with the youngster already in Germany to finalise the move.
Chelsea remains under strict financial control.
Uefa has warned the club to post a positive transfer balance this window before it can register new players for the Champions League.
The Blues were fined £26.7m earlier this summer for breaching financial rules, while their wage-to-income ratio was reported to be over 80%.
Several Chelsea players could still leave before the window closes, with Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Tyrique George, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell all linked with moves.
On the incoming side, Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho and RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons are among players reportedly on Chelsea’s radar.
