A 25-year-old woman allegedly killed her boyfriend after an argument over a phone.

Residents of Samoget village in Bomet East Sub-County are in shock after a young woman allegedly hacked her boyfriend to death following a disagreement over a mobile phone.

According to Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa, the suspect, identified as Faith Cherono, 25, had gone to visit her boyfriend, Emanuel Kiprono, 33, on Tuesday to demand the return of a phone she claimed was hers.

Police say an argument broke out between the two but was later calmed down, with the couple agreeing to resolve the matter later in the day. However, things turned tragic when Cherono allegedly attacked Kiprono, striking him at the back of the head with a sword, killing him instantly.

After committing the act, the suspect fled and crossed into Narok County, where she later surrendered herself at Tendwet Police Station.

Officers who visited the scene found Kiprono’s body with a deep cut wound on the back of the head. His remains were taken to Tenwek Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Bomet East Police Commander Michael Singa confirmed that Faith Cherono is currently in custody as investigations continue into the shocking incident.
The brutal killing has left the local community in disbelief, with residents calling for calm as police continue to probe the motive behind the tragedy.
