Gospel singer Betty Bayo will be buried at Mugumo Estate along Kiambu Road. Burial set for Thursday, November 20, following a memorial at her church.

Elder David Kigomo, speaking on behalf of Bayo’s family at Blue Springs Hotel, confirmed that the late gospel singer will not be buried at her ex-husband Pastor Victor Kanyari’s home or at her current husband Hiram Gitau’s residence. Instead, she will be laid to rest on a plot she personally purchased at Mugumo Estate along Kiambu Road.

Kigomo described the location as reflecting Bayo’s independent spirit, a quiet spot chosen by her years ago.

The burial will follow a memorial service at Christian Foundation Fellowship church, where Bayo worshipped. The service will feature performances from gospel peers such as Eunice Njeri and Reuben Kigame, honouring her musical journey from a small-town talent to a national icon.

The family set a KSh 5 million budget for the burial. Donations have been streaming in from fans and celebrities, with roughly 60 per cent of the target already reached. Funds will cover logistics, including chapel rental, floral arrangements, and a reception for mourners.

The Mugumo Estate plot was fully purchased by Bayo herself, affirming her autonomy. She built a foundation through music and real estate, navigating fame and personal challenges, including her previous marriage and health battles.

Kanyari and her current husband, Tash, have deferred to the family’s decisions, focusing on supporting her children and the burial arrangements. Women’s groups have praised the choice of a woman-owned land as a fitting tribute.

As the burial date approaches, the focus has shifted from speculation to honouring Bayo’s life and contributions. The family urges continued support through verified channels to ensure a dignified farewell.
