101 households in the Mradi area lost homes in a fire. Babu Owino offered financial assistance to support affected families.
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has extended financial support to 101 residents whose homes were destroyed in a fire in the Mradi area earlier this week.
In a statement on Thursday, November 6, the legislator expressed sympathy to the affected families, noting that many had lost nearly all their belongings.
“We were deeply saddened by the loss they suffered due to the recent fire. No words can fully ease the pain of seeing cherished homes and belongings destroyed, but please know that you are not alone,” Babu Owino said.
He assured that his office will continue working closely with the families as they begin rebuilding and securing temporary shelter.
The fire broke out on Monday, November 3, destroying multiple houses and property of unknown value. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
This incident adds to a series of fire emergencies reported in Embakasi East in recent years.
In March 2025, a fire in Tassia left several people injured and destroyed homes worth millions. The victims were rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital, while firefighters battled to contain the flames.
Earlier, in February 2024, a gas explosion in the same Mradi area killed six people and left more than 270 others injured. The explosion occurred after a gas truck ignited, causing widespread damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles in the vicinity.
Following the disaster, President William Ruto ordered investigations and the prosecution of all officials found responsible.
Local leaders and emergency response teams are continuing to assess the impact of the latest fire and coordinate support for affected families.
Babu Owino reaffirmed his commitment to standing with residents:
“We will work together to rebuild stronger. Embakasi East is a family, and we rise together.”
