Arsenal vs Burnley: Match preview

Arsenal head into this game knowing the title race remains firmly in their hands. With only two matches left, Mikel Arteta’s side must win both to secure their first Premier League crown in 22 years, leaving little room for error. Last time out, the Gunners narrowly defeated West Ham, although the finish was dramatic, as a stoppage-time equaliser from their opponents was ruled out following a VAR review.

Momentum is clearly with Arsenal. They have recorded three straight league wins without conceding, booked a place in the Champions League final after eliminating Atletico Madrid, and continue to show remarkable focus domestically.

The main selection concern remains at right-back: Ben White has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, while Jurrien Timber is still recovering. Cristian Mosquera is expected to continue filling in after his solid showing against West Ham, while Riccardo Calafiori could return after getting back to training.

Burnley, meanwhile, have already been relegated from the Premier League, but their latest performance suggested there is still fight left in the squad.

After five consecutive defeats, Mike Jackson’s side earned a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa — Europa League finalists — offering a small morale boost despite their confirmed drop. Their biggest problem all season has been failing to convert decent attacking moments into valuable points.

The Clarets have found the net in five of their last six away games, but defensive frailties remain obvious. They have lost four consecutive away matches — against Everton, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds — with each defeat coming by more than one goal. Hannibal Mejbri is doubtful after suffering an injury against Villa, and Burnley may adopt a defensive 5-4-1 system in London, aiming to frustrate Arsenal and avoid conceding early.

Probable lineups

Burnley: Wys, Tuanzebe, Humphreys, Esteve, Walker, Pires, Ugochukwu, Luis, Tshauana, Anthony, Flemming.
