Disappointment for Cristiano Ronaldo: Al-Nassr loses Asian Champions League 2 final to Japanese club
Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a painful defeat with Al-Nassr. The Saudi club lost the final of the Asian Champions League Two, the Asian equivalent of the Europa League. Japanese side G-Osaka proved too strong in Riyadh, winning 1-0.
The final was played at the King Saud University Stadium, one of the stadiums for the 2034 World Cup.
Ronaldo missed a number of chances for Al-Nassr in the first half.
After half an hour, the goal came at the other end via the Turk Deniz Hummet.
Al-Nassr was unable to repair the damage, causing the title to go to G-Osaka.
A blow for Ronaldo and co, who are also still in the race for the Saudi Arabian league title. With one matchday remaining, the lead over Al-Hilal is two points.
The 41-year-old Ronaldo has won only one trophy in three and a half years at Al-Nassr: the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.
The Portuguese player has a contract until mid-2027.
Gamba is among the most accomplished Japanese clubs, having won 2 J1 League titles, 1 J2 League title, 5 Emperor’s Cup, 2 J.League Cup and 2 Japanese Super Cup.
