Bishop Ben Kiengei has sparked wide discussion after publicly advising Pastor Victor Kanyari to take full custody of the late singer Betty Bayo’s children.
The comments came during a church service attended by Kanyari, where he had made a generous contribution to the ministry. Kiengei used the moment to urge him to step into a stronger parental role following the recent family dispute that began after Betty’s burial.
Reports indicate that tensions rose when the children’s grandmother, Joyce Wairimu, went live on TikTok and pleaded for support.
She insisted that the two children, Sky and Danny, should remain under the care of their biological father.

Her emotional appeal drew thousands of viewers and triggered a new wave of debate about who should take responsibility for the children at such a difficult time.
During the church service, Bishop Kiengei addressed the matter directly. He stated that no father should ever abandon his children and encouraged Kanyari to ensure that the two siblings grow up in a stable environment.
He added that if Kanyari did not already have a wife, he was ready to help him find one so the children could have a home where they feel supported and protected. His remarks drew cheers from the congregation.

Kanyari later posted a video of Kiengei’s comments on his social media pages, adding emojis that suggested he was amused by the message.
The post drew mixed reactions from the public. Some people praised the bishop for standing up for the children and calling for responsibility. Others argued that the situation is complex and should be handled privately by both families for the sake of the children.
The discussion continues as Kenyans await the resolution of the custody issue.
