The custody dispute involving the late singer Betty Bayo’s children has taken a new twist after Bishop Ben Kiengei publicly urged Pastor Victor Kanyari to take full responsibility for his kids, Sky and Danny.

His remarks, delivered during a Sunday service at his JCM church, ignited a heated debate across social media.

Since Bayo’s death, tensions have reportedly risen between her husband, Tash, and her ex-husband, Pastor Kanyari, with both men said to be involved in a quiet battle over the children’s future.

The controversy escalated further when Bayo’s mother, Joyce Wairimu, went live on TikTok, revealing emotional details about her daughter’s final days and insisting that the children should go back to their father.

During Kanyari’s visit to JCM, where he donated KSh 100,000, Bishop Kiengei addressed him directly, delivering a message that instantly went viral.

“No one abandons their children,” Kiengei said. “Even a mentally ill parent stays with their kids. I believe you should be given your children so you walk life’s journey with them. And if you need a wife, come to my church we will help you.”

His comment about assisting Kanyari in finding a new wife drew laughter, shock, and criticism in equal measure. Kanyari later reshared the clip with playful emojis, fueling even more conversation.

Online reactions poured in, with many Kenyans supporting the preacher’s call for Kanyari to take custody.

Others questioned whether the children’s wishes had been considered, while some urged both families to avoid public confrontations during a sensitive time.

Meanwhile, Bayo’s mother has demanded her daughter’s body be exhumed for a fresh post-mortem, claiming the earlier cancer explanation was insufficient. Her remarks sparked yet another wave of online debate.

As emotions continue to rise, Kenyans wait to see whether the custody matter will be settled privately or push the two families into a legal battle. One thing is clear, the public is fully invested, and the story is far from over.
