Ruth Odinga has paid tribute to her late sister Beryl Achieng Odinga, describing her as a strong woman who fought her illness until the end.
Speaking at Beryl’s requiem mass, Ruth revealed that Beryl was smiling until her death.
She shared that the family struggled to decide how to break the news of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s passing, as Beryl was bedridden at the time.
Ruth who mourned her the late Beryl as her best friend said , “Go in peace, say hi to Raila – I’m sure he’s at the gate waiting for you. Say hi to our parents and others who are waiting for us.”
Dr. Oburu Oginga, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, also mourned Beryl’s death, noting she was named after Achieng Oneko, a friend of their father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
He revealed that Beryl will be laid to rest at her father’s home in Bondo, Siaya County.
