Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s son and top military commander, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has stirred online debate after boldly declaring that he is ready to marry Charlene Ruto, daughter of Kenya’s President William Ruto.

In a statement that quickly caught the attention of both Kenyan and Ugandan social media users, Muhoozi remarked, “I am ready to marry Charlene Ruto. I heard her father complaining that Kenyan men above 25 years are not marrying.”

His comment appeared to reference President Ruto’s recent concerns about the declining rate of marriages among young Kenyan men.

Muhoozi’s unexpected “proposal” has since sparked humour, political speculation, and cultural conversations across East Africa.

While the remarks were made in a light, informal tone, they set off a wave of reactions, with some users joking that diplomatic ties between the two countries might soon take a “family turn,” and others questioning whether the general was speaking in jest or making a serious statement.

Charlene Ruto, known for her national youth engagement initiatives and charity work, has not issued any response to Muhoozi’s remarks.

The Kenyan State House has also remained silent on the matter, likely treating the comments as part of Muhoozi’s often playful and outspoken online persona.

Despite the light-hearted nature of the statement, Muhoozi’s words once again highlight his growing tendency to mix politics, humour, and public commentary often with viral results.

For now, the comment remains a trending topic, igniting cross-border banter and adding yet another chapter to Muhoozi’s headline-grabbing public statements.
