Saumu Mbuvi has said she is no longer interested in marriage, days after her sister Salma was allegedly assaulted by her husband. The incident drew wide attention after a video of former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko confronting his son-in-law circulated online.
In the video, Sonko firmly questioned the man over the repeated violence against his daughter. He condemned the assault and warned that he would personally report the matter if Salma failed to do so. Many Kenyans applauded Sonko’s reaction, calling him a protective father.
As the debate continued online, some of Saumu’s followers took to her TikTok page to comment on the issue. Others went as far as expressing interest in marrying her. Saumu, however, made it clear that marriage is not something she is considering.

Responding to a fan, she said she left the “marriage group” long ago and is only open to a miracle changing her mind.
She explained that she is currently focused on building her life and taking care of her children. When another fan promised to buy her a car if she accepted his marriage proposal, she calmly shut him down, saying that chapter of her life is closed.
Saumu also addressed concerns about insecurity in relationships, noting that only insecure men start unnecessary fights. She added that many men today react violently when their masculinity feels threatened.

The mother of two previously dated politicians Ben Gatu and Anwar Loitiptip. She parted ways with Gatu after the birth of their first child, though they continue to co-parent well. Her later relationship with Loitiptip ended after she accused him of being abusive and absent, claims he never responded to.
Saumu now says her focus is on her children and her personal growth, not marriage.
