A light but shocking scene has gone viral after a man was filmed attempting to steal a chapati from a busy street vendor. The man pretended to be an ordinary customer, waiting quietly as the seller served another person.
When the vendor turned away, the man quickly grabbed a hot chapati from the pan and stuffed it inside the front of his trousers, hoping nobody would notice.
The plan backfired immediately. The chapati was so hot that the man began squirming and shaking his body, looking like he was dancing in pain. Still trying to act normal, he attempted to walk away calmly, unaware that a camera had captured everything.
Moments later, unable to endure the burning, he pulled out the chapati and tossed it on the ground before running off in embarrassment.
The clip spread quickly on social media, with many Kenyans joking that “the chapati thief was punished instantly by fire.” Others condemned the theft but admitted the funny dance left them laughing uncontrollably.
While the video has entertained thousands, it also carried a clear message: stealing doesn’t pay. For this man, the punishment came not in court, but right there on the street and faster than he ever expected.
