Okong’o alerted the police that his son, who had been rushed to Kombewa Sub-County Hospital for treatment, had died of his burn injuries.
“The deceased had been rushed to the hospital by neighbors who had rescued him while burning and managed to put off the fire,” Chelimo stated.

Elsewhere, grief engulfed Chebugon village in Bomet as nine-year-old Emmanuel Kimutai, the boy allegedly killed by his father in a dispute over bread and milk, was laid to rest.
Thousands of mourners thronged the homestead, where sobs and wails filled the air as the hearse carrying the child’s body arrived.
Relatives, neighbours, and classmates gathered to pay their last respects, with many struggling to come to terms with the loss of a life cut short.
Emmanuel’s mother, overwhelmed by grief, broke down repeatedly and had to be supported by family members.
According to further reports, tensions briefly flared during the ceremony as some mourners attempted to block the boy’s father, the prime suspect in the killing, from approaching the grave. Relatives and security personnel had to intervene to restore calm.
According to reports, he suffered severe chest injuries, internal bleeding, and lung damage after being beaten by his father for allegedly taking his bread and milk.
A boda boda rider who rushed him to hospital confirmed the boy’s critical condition, while an autopsy later revealed he succumbed to breathing complications caused by the injuries.
Online, Kenyans expressed grief and outrage, demanding justice for the young boy.
