Officer Kennedy Mutuku died in a road accident while serving in Haiti.
Kenyan police officer Kennedy Mutuku has died in a road accident while on a peacekeeping mission in Haiti. His death has cast a dark cloud over his family and community, who were eagerly waiting for his return next month.
His mother, Serah Ndunge, spoke through tears as she remembered her last conversation with her son.
“Ilifaa akuje nyumbani next month, ata tumeongea naye juzi,” she said.
The grieving mother explained that Mutuku had promised to come home soon, but his life was cut short in the line of duty.
Mutuku was part of the Kenyan contingent deployed to Haiti for a peacekeeping mission. His death not only robs his family of a beloved son but also deprives Kenya of a dedicated officer who had chosen to serve in a difficult and dangerous environment.
Relatives, neighbours, and friends have gathered at the family home to comfort them. The government has pledged to support the family and ensure that Mutuku is honoured for his service to the nation.
Meanwhile, Kenyans from across the country have sent condolence messages, calling for the nation to stand in solidarity with the grieving family during this painful moment.
