Coach Benni McCarthy unveils 23-man squad for The Gambia and Seychelles games.
Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has revealed his final squad of 23 players for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers. Kenya will face The Gambia and Seychelles in fixtures that could decide their chances of playing on the world stage again.
The goalkeeping team will be anchored by Faruk Shikhalo, with Brian Bwire and Byrne Omondi named as reliable backups.
McCarthy has assembled a strong defensive unit combining experience and youth. The squad includes Sylvester Owino, Alphonse Omija, Collins Sichenje, Michael Kibwage, Rooney Onyango, Abud Omar, and Lewis Bandi.
The midfield mix is filled with energy and creativity. Selected players are Richard Odada, Alpha Onyango, Duke Abuya, Mansur Okwaro, Timothy Ouma, Ben Stanley, and Marvin Nabwire.
Kenya’s attack will once again be led by captain Michael Olunga. He will be joined by Emmanuel Osoro, Will Lenkupae, Job Ochieng, Boniface Muchiri, and fast-rising striker Ryan Ogam.
The Football Kenya Federation confirmed that the squad will head into camp immediately to sharpen preparations. McCarthy has stressed discipline, teamwork, and consistency as key to success.
