Acting police minister vows relentless manhunt for cop killer Jabulani Moyo
Acting Police Minister Professor Firoz Cachalia has condemned the killing of two detectives and reaffirmed that “an attack on the police is an attack on the state,” pledging that the South African Police Service (SAPS) “will not rest until Zimbabwean Jabulani Moyo is behind bars” .
Moyo allegedly shot dead the two detectives while they were transporting him back to Boksburg Prison from his court appearance on Friday morning in Roodepoort, Gauteng. The detectives were disarmed and fatally shot in Roodepoort CBD, after which Moyo fled in the detectives’ unmarked police vehicle, which was later found abandoned a few kilometres away .
Minister Cachalia offered heartfelt condolences to the officers’ families and praised their service: “Their sacrifice… is a stark reminder of the daily dangers faced by our police officers…”.
National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has deployed “maximum resources” across crime intelligence, detectives, Gauteng tracking teams, and the Hawks to locate Moyo.
Cachalia urged the public to assist, stating: “No detail is too small… your assistance could be critical in ensuring that justice is served”.
Jabulani Thabang Moyo, awaiting trial for business robbery, is now accused of murdering two detectives.
