Two-time CHAN champions DR Congo landed in Nairobi on Thursday morning.

The Democratic Republic of Congo national team landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport aboard an Air Tanzania flight ahead of their opening CHAN 2024 clash against hosts Kenya. The team is scheduled to hold their first training session on Thursday evening to shake off travel fatigue.

Head coach Otis N’Goma was upbeat after arrival, praising the warm reception and expressing belief in his squad’s form.

“We feel excited for the warm welcome that we have received at the airport in Nairobi,”
— Otis N’Goma, DR Congo Head Coach

“We had a good time in Tanzania preparing for this great tournament. Our players are in good condition and ready for the task ahead.”

N’Goma is aiming to add a third CHAN title to DR Congo’s record after triumphs in 2009 and 2016.

Much of DR Congo’s attacking hopes rest on TP Mazembe forward Oscar Kabwit. Known for his speed, power, and finishing, Kabwit offers a versatile threat, whether as a lone striker or on the wing.

Group A features hosts Kenya, defending champions Morocco, Zambia, Angola, and DR Congo. Kenya faces DR Congo in the opening match at Kasarani on Sunday at 3 PM. Angola is expected to arrive later today before their 6 PM clash with Morocco at Nyayo Stadium.

With all teams now assembling in Kenya and the stadiums already sold out, CHAN 2024 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting football tournaments in the region, spotlighting local talent from across Africa.
