Bournemouth signs Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea for £25 million.

AFC Bournemouth have announced the £25 million signing of Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea, completing their third major move of the summer.

The 25-year-old keeper, who spent last season on loan at Strasbourg in France, has committed to a five-year deal with the Cherries. Petrovic earned accolades in Ligue 1, where he was named Strasbourg’s Player of the Season after guiding them to a seventh-place finish and Europa Conference League qualification.

Petrovic joined Chelsea from MLS side New England Revolution in 2023 for £14 million but made only 23 Premier League appearances over two seasons before going out on loan.

Speaking after his move, Petrovic said:

“I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow and I want to play at the best level. Together with this club, with these facilities, I think we can achieve it. I want to help the team get the results, improve every day and be a better player.”

The Serbian international, who has seven caps for his country, is expected to step in as Bournemouth’s new first-choice goalkeeper following the departure of Kepa Arrizabalaga, who returned to Chelsea and has since joined Arsenal in a £5 million deal.

Djordje Petrovic’s arrival signals Bournemouth’s intent to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. With top-flight experience in both England and France, he brings quality and ambition between the posts.
