Geoffrey Wanjala says he openly sells bhang for a living
A courtroom in Eldoret was left stunned when a man calmly admitted he had been selling bhang to earn a living. Appearing before Resident Magistrate Daniel Sitati, Geoffrey Wanjala didn’t deny the charges — in fact, he embraced them.
“I have nothing to hide. This is what I do to survive,” he told the court without hesitation.
Arrested With Stock Worth Nearly a Million
Wanjala was picked up on June 26, 2025, from his home in Lower West Indies, not far from Eldoret town. The operation was carried out by plainclothes officers from Central Police Station after locals tipped them off.
A search of his house revealed bags of harvested cannabis valued at about Ksh750,000, according to the prosecution.
Prosecutor Eric Waweru told the court that Wanjala even tried to run but was caught shortly after.
The prosecution now wants Wanjala detained at Eldoret GK Remand for two more weeks as the government chemist works to confirm the nature of the seized plant.
Magistrate Sitati agreed, ruling that Wanjala will stay in custody until July 14, when the report is expected to guide the next phase of the case.
Further legal steps will depend on whether the analysis confirms the substance as cannabis.
