“You Must Come Back Home” President William Ruto Reveal He Ordered His Brother to Return to Kenya from United States Shares Why

A resurfaced 2023 wedding video shows President William Ruto sharing a deeply personal story how he instructed his younger brother to leave a successful life in the United States and return home to Kenya.

Away from the political spotlight where many only see him as Kenya’s Head of State, William Ruto is also a protective elder brother and family patriarch.

During the white wedding of his younger brother, David Samoei, the president opened up about a decision that changed his brother’s life. In the emotional speech, Ruto disclosed that David had no plans of returning to Kenya after building his career in America until he stepped in.

A Career Built in the United States

David Samoei had established himself professionally in the US after beginning his career in 2000.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Management Information Systems from Indiana State University and later earned a Master of Business Administration from Capella University.

By the time his brother called him back home, he had already developed a stable career and professional networks abroad.

Speaking during the wedding celebration, Ruto revealed that he insisted David relocate to Kenya.

He explained that in the absence of their late father, he considers himself the head of the family and therefore responsible for guiding major decisions.

According to the president, his brother respected that authority and chose to return home despite the opportunities he had overseas.

From Traditional Ceremony to White Wedding

Before their 2023 white wedding, David and his wife, Carol Kitur, held a traditional marriage ceremony in 2019, where President Ruto personally led the dowry negotiations.

The later white wedding was attended by close friends and family, marking a new chapter for the couple.

In his remarks, Ruto thanked his brother for honoring his advice and expressed confidence that building a family and career in Kenya would prove worthwhile.

The moment offered Kenyans a rare look at the president beyond politics not just as a national leader, but as an elder brother determined to keep his family united at home.
