Willy Paul tells Bahati to deliver Ksh1M pledge to Harambee Stars
Kenyan singer Willy Paul has publicly urged fellow artist Bahati to fulfil his promise of rewarding the Harambee Stars with Ksh1 million following their thrilling 1-0 win over Morocco in the third CHAN group stage match held at Moi Kasarani International Stadium on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
In an Instagram video shared shortly after the match, Willy Paul addressed Bahati directly, expressing the urgency for the promised cash reward to be delivered to the Harambee Stars players without delay.
Willy Paul’s remarks come amid growing national excitement following Kenya’s remarkable performance against Morocco, a powerhouse in the CHAN tournament.
Despite playing with only 10 men for a significant part of the game, Kenya secured a historic victory thanks to Tusker FC forward Ryan Ogam, who scored the decisive goal in the 43rd minute by capitalising on a loose ball in Morocco’s penalty area.
Bahati’s commitment to players
Bahati had previously pledged to reward the Harambee Stars with Ksh1 million if they won any match during the tournament. The musician clarified that the cash prize was meant solely for the players as an incentive and not for the team management or officials.
Bahati also revealed that he and his wife, Diana Marua, planned to personally deliver the cash in hand to the players immediately after the win.
Responding to Willy Paul’s call on Instagram, Bahati reassured fans and fellow artists, writing in the comments, “Hii Nitawapea Kwa Mkono Ndugu Yangu… Hiii Imeendaaaaa,” confirming his intention to honour the pledge.
Support from Ruto
Adding to the wave of support, President William Ruto had earlier pledged Ksh1 million to the Harambee Stars players for every match they win in the CHAN tournament, boosting the morale of the team and fans alike.
