Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has weighed in on the large crowds that turned up for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna during the ongoing Linda Mwananchi tour in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

Reacting to images and videos from the rally, Wambugu expressed visible excitement at the scale of public participation, suggesting the turnout sent a strong political message.

In a light but pointed remark, he appeared to contrast the Kitengela gathering with rallies previously associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, implying that the Linda Mwananchi crowds reflected a different level of grassroots energy.

Wambugu noted that the numbers seen in Kitengela demonstrated a growing appetite for issue-based engagement, particularly among young people and urban voters.

According to him, the Linda Mwananchi tour seems to be tapping into public frustration over governance, cost of living, and accountability, themes that have resonated strongly across several regions.

The former legislator also hinted at shifting political alignments, observing that influential figures who were previously distant from Sifuna’s camp may now attempt to associate themselves with the momentum generated by the tour.

He suggested that such moves would be driven more by political convenience than shared ideals, urging leaders to be honest about their intentions.

Sifuna’s stop in Kitengela attracted thousands of supporters, with residents turning up early and lining major streets to catch a glimpse of the ODM senator.

The rally forms part of the wider Linda Mwananchi initiative, which Sifuna has framed as a platform to listen to citizens and amplify everyday concerns.

As the tour continues, reactions like Wambugu’s underline the growing attention the movement is drawing within Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
