A viral video reportedly depicts the body of Mayienga FM director Festus Amimo being taken from a room where he collapsed and died.
Amimo had reserved a room for a steamy session with his colleague, Collata Ann Ngesa, where he collapsed and died.
According to the hotel manager, Collata informed them that Amimo had collapsed and died a few minutes after the two checked into the room.

The police who arrived at the scene confirmed that he died at the scene.
Colleagues at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation characterized Amimo as a steadfast and principled editor who held the belief that radio should mirror the realities of the communities it serves.
Many acknowledged his role in mentoring young journalists, guiding them through the initial phases of their careers, and advocating for high standards of accuracy and cultural sensitivity.

Until his untimely death, he served with immense commitment as the Head of KBC Dholuo-Mayienga Radio and as Chair of the Luo Journalists Association.
