Two police officers tragically lost their lives while setting up a communication mast at Ainamoi Police Station.
A task meant to boost communication systems at Ainamoi Police Station ended in tragedy on Wednesday. Two officers—one from the DCI and the other from regular police—died on the spot while fixing a new radio signal mast.
Reports from locals say the officers were in the middle of raising the metal mast when it suddenly fell and struck power lines above. The live wires caused immediate electrocution, and the force of the fall left the two with no time to react.
Eyewitnesses described the moment as shocking and helpless.
Bodies Moved, Probe Underway
The officers’ remains were taken to the Ainamoi Sub-County Hospital morgue. Their identities have not yet been made public as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, police leaders in Kericho have started reviewing the event to find out if there was negligence or a failure in following safety procedures.
Authorities are now checking whether Kenya Power was informed ahead of the installation and if the team involved had taken the right safety steps.
The incident has sparked concerns about how such technical tasks are managed within the service and whether officers get proper training and protection while handling risky work.
