Mohamed Salah has accused Liverpool of throwing him “under the bus” after being left on the bench for the third consecutive match during the club’s 3-3 draw against Leeds United on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The Egyptian forward, who has been one of Liverpool’s most iconic players since joining in 2017, said his relationship with head coach Arne Slot has completely broken down.

Speaking after the dramatic draw at Elland Road, Salah, who remained an unused substitute, told journalists that he felt unfairly blamed for Liverpool’s recent struggles.

“I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame,” he said. “I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship.”

Salah, who has scored 250 goals in 420 appearances for the Reds, expressed frustration over what he believes is a deliberate attempt to sideline him. “It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I don’t get it. I don’t think I’m the problem. I have done so much for this club,” he added.

He insisted he has earned his place in the team and should not have to fight for his position every day, saying, “I am not bigger than anyone, but I earned my position. It’s football. It is what it is.”

The 33-year-old forward, who will join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15, admitted he is unsure about his future in Liverpool despite signing a new two-year contract in April.

After scoring 29 goals last season, Salah has struggled to replicate the same form this term, managing only four goals in 13 league matches.

With long-standing interest from the Saudi Pro League, speculation over Salah’s next move is expected to intensify as tensions between him and the club continue to grow.
