The Jubilee Party has come out strongly to defend its party leader, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, following fresh accusations linked to campaign funds during Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential bid.

The statement follows a public fallout between Edwin Sifuna and Junet Mohamed, where the two exchanged sharp words over how campaign funds were allegedly handled.

Sifuna accused Junet of misusing money said to have been donated by Uhuru to support Raila’s campaign. Junet, on the other hand, claimed the funds were controlled by Uhuru’s close family members and associates, allegations Jubilee has firmly dismissed.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Nairobi, Jubilee described the attacks on Uhuru as dishonest, politically driven, and meant to distract Kenyans from the failures of the current government.

“At no time has our Party Leader or the Jubilee Party engaged in any scheme to destabilise, buy, or hijack another political party,” Jubilee stated.

The party insisted that Uhuru openly and publicly supported Raila’s 2022 campaign and that any internal sabotage came from within ODM itself not Jubilee.

Jubilee further warned politicians to stop dragging Uhuru into ODM’s internal disputes, saying they will not allow their leader to be used as a scapegoat for political betrayals that happened elsewhere.

The party also cautioned that such attacks risk reigniting ethnic tensions and reopening old political divisions at a time when the country needs unity.

On its future plans, Jubilee said it is focused on rebuilding its strength by recruiting members across the country, engaging transparently with aspirants, and forming alliances with like-minded parties.

Jubilee concluded by making it clear that it will continue defending Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy while pushing for political stability and national cohesion.
