A three-year-old boy’s body was found in a seasonal river in Kibiku, Kajiado West.

Kibiku village in Kajiado West is in mourning after a missing three-year-old boy was found dead in a seasonal river. Police confirmed that the child’s stepfather is the main suspect and is now in custody.

The alarm was raised after CCTV footage allegedly captured the suspect walking with the boy along Maragara Road. That was the last time the child was seen alive. When confronted, the man claimed he had received a work call and sent the boy home alone, an excuse that many residents dismissed as untrue.

His explanation angered locals, who accused him of foul play. The situation almost turned violent, forcing police officers to step in and save him from mob justice.

Neighbours revealed that the suspect never fully accepted his wife’s firstborn son. Although the couple had a child together, he often complained about raising the boy. The boy’s mother said her husband had on several occasions asked her to return the child to his biological father.

Residents described the marriage as troubled, with reports of abuse.

“If a man tells you he does not want your child, that is a clear sign you should leave. A child’s life is far more valuable than staying in a toxic marriage,” one neighbour said.

Others stressed that blended families should be built on love and respect.

“If you cannot carry the responsibility, walk away from the relationship. Do not punish the child,” a Ngong resident said.

On social media, Kenyans expressed disbelief and anger, saying it was irresponsible to claim that a three-year-old was told to walk home alone. Many urged women to put their children first before committing to marriages with men who reject them.

Police assured the public that investigations are ongoing and promised that justice will be served.
