Litein Boys High School closed indefinitely after violent unrest.
Litein Boys High School was closed indefinitely after students went on a violent rampage on Sunday night. Witnesses said they vandalised property and attempted to invade a nearby girls’ school.
The cause of the unrest has not been confirmed. Some reports suggest the chaos started after complaints over a poor diet, while others say students were angered after being denied a chance to watch the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester City.
According to witnesses, students switched off all lights in the school compound before overpowering security officers. Under the cover of darkness, they carried out widespread destruction of property.
The full value of the damage has not yet been established.
County education officials confirmed that Litein Boys has been closed indefinitely. They also said investigations have been launched to determine the motive behind the unrest and to identify those responsible.
“We have closed the school to restore calm and ensure safety. Investigations will guide the next steps,” an education official said.
