President Samia campaigned in Mtwara, highlighting achievements in roads, electricity, and water supply.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Friday assured Mtwara residents that her administration is determined to deliver a Tanzania built on dignity and shared growth. She pointed to roads, electricity connections, and water projects as proof that government programs are changing daily life for citizens.
She said that the construction of key transport corridors will not only serve southern Tanzania but also link the region to Mozambique and Malawi, creating wider chances for trade and investment.
The President described agriculture as Tanzania’s backbone and future strength. She revealed that output has grown sharply in recent years, with pigeon peas increasing from just 5,700 tonnes in 2020 to over 529,000 tonnes in 2024. Sesame production also grew from 5,100 tonnes to nearly 600,000 tonnes over the same period.
Samia promised farmers more support through subsidised farm inputs, modern machinery, extension officers, and agro-processing plants to ensure value addition happens locally.
On education and health, she cited the building of new schools, upgraded health centres, improved drug supply, and the hiring of teachers and health workers as evidence of progress.
She further promised to scale up youth-focused programs, including vocational training, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation.
“Our young people must be equipped with the right skills and opportunities to drive nation building from agribusiness to digital technology,” she said.
Closing her address, President Samia asked Tanzanians to back her once again at the ballot, saying that while her government had achieved much, the mission was not yet complete.
“Much has been achieved, but there is still more to be done. I ask for your support so that together we can continue building a Tanzania of growth and dignity,” she told supporters.
