Safaricom has launched a new M-Pesa feature called Shiriki Pay. The service allows one user to share wallet access with another person.

Safaricom has unveiled a new M-Pesa service named Shiriki Pay, giving users the ability to allow another person to make payments directly from their wallet.

The feature is designed for two registered M-Pesa customers and introduces shared wallet access under controlled limits.

With Shiriki Pay, the main account holder grants permission to another user to pay for goods and services using their M-Pesa balance.

It works in a similar way to card-based spending, where the wallet owner decides how much the second user can spend.

Once approved, the authorised person can pay merchants directly without asking for money each time.

Shiriki Pay is strictly limited to business transactions.

Users can only make payments through: Lipa na M-Pesa (Buy Goods and Paybill), Pochi la Biashara merchants

The feature does not allow personal money transfers or cash withdrawals.

Safaricom has placed clear limits to ensure security.

The authorised user: Cannot exceed the spending limit, Cannot send money to other M-Pesa users, Cannot withdraw cash

All usage is restricted to merchant payments only.

To activate the service, the account holder must provide: The user’s phone number Full name and contact details

Any extra documents requested by Safaricom must also be submitted.

The final setup is completed through the M-Pesa App using the account holder’s PIN for security.

The main wallet owner can withdraw access at any time.
The user can also choose to stop using the service.

However, transactions already completed cannot be reversed. Standard M-Pesa charges apply to all payments made under Shiriki Pay.

The new feature adds flexibility for families, businesses, and shared expenses, while keeping control firmly in the hands of the account holder.

Shiriki Pay marks another step in Safaricom’s effort to make M-Pesa more practical for daily spending and managed access.
