Tusker confirms the exit of top striker Ryan Ogam weeks before the new KPL season.
Barely a month before the new KPL season begins, Tusker FC have lost their top forward Ryan Wesley Ogam. The 21-year-old has sealed a transfer to Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC after smooth negotiations, though details of the contract remain private.
Ogam joined Tusker from the UAE’s Elite Falcons and quickly rose to prominence. In his first KPL season, the former Rainbow FC striker bagged 15 goals in the first leg and closed with 16 despite missing three months due to a knee injury.
His form turned heads across Africa, with USM Alger, Raja Club Athletic, and Gor Mahia all trying to sign him. Gor’s assistant patron Eliud Owalo even met Ogam’s parents, David and Edith Rabuok, in a personal bid. Still, Wolfsberger’s European opportunity proved too good to turn down.
Ogam has also impressed in national colours. During the 2025 CHAN group stage, he scored against Zambia and Morocco, winning Man of the Match in the latter game. Kenya eventually exited in the quarterfinals, but its impact was noted.
Harambee Stars coach Stuart McCarthy tipped him for greatness, saying Ogam could follow in the footsteps of Michael Olunga.
His godfather, former Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi, also sent him a message of encouragement. Origi reminded him that discipline and work ethic would define his journey in Europe, urging him to stay focused.
While Ogam’s dream of playing in Europe begins, Tusker are left with a huge gap in their attack. The young striker had been at the centre of their title hopes, and replacing him will be a difficult task ahead of the new season.
