A family in Kisii is crying for justice and support after their son, who recently shared a meal with the President, died mysteriously just two days later.
The heartbreaking story was shared by the mother, Rachel Mwati, during an interview with Bosongo Vibes.
Rachel, a single mother of four, narrated her painful journey as she continues to search for answers about what happened to her only son, 32-year-old Moffat Migiro Shem.

Moffat was not only her firstborn but also the only son she managed to educate up to university level despite facing many challenges.
Moffat was a fourth-year student at Kisii University and was expected to graduate in 2018 after completing his final exams.
He was well known at the institution as a vocal student leader, actively involved in various university affairs.

According to his mother, Moffat was also trusted by the school leadership and was one of the individuals selected to attend a special event where he dined with the President an event organized by the university’s top leadership.
Two days after attending that high-profile event, Moffat was found dead under unclear circumstances.
His sudden death left the family devastated and full of unanswered questions.
Rachel says she still does not understand what happened to her son, and to date, no clear explanation has been given.

Before returning to school for his final exams, Moffat had also worked under the office of former Kisii Governor James Ongwae, who reportedly recognized and appreciated the young man’s efforts.
His involvement in leadership roles both inside and outside the university made his death even more shocking to those who knew him.
Rachel says losing her son not only broke her heart but also shattered her dreams. Moffat was her hope for a better life.
As a single mother, she has worked for seven years doing manual jobs in Imara Daima, Nairobi, just to keep her children fed and in school.
Today, Rachel is in an even more desperate situation.
She says she is homeless after losing her rental house due to unpaid rent.
With no sons to depend on and her only hope gone, she is now appealing to well-wishers and leaders to help her get shelter and to support her family as they continue seeking justice for Moffat.
“I did everything I could to educate my son. He worked hard, he had dreams, and he had even met the President. But now he is gone, and we still don’t know why,” she tearfully said.
