Phelokazi Marerane, 28, was tragically and senselessly killed in Nyanga, South Africa, Her family is devastated and finds it difficult to cope with the terrible loss.
According to The Daily Voice, the horrific murderer, her ex-boyfriend Baxolele Baja, committed suicide shortly after carrying out this horrible deed.
The tragic event happened when Baja turned to violence in an attempt to make amends with Phelokazi after she turned down his advances.
Siphosethu Fumbatha, Phelokazi’s brother, gave a moving narrative of the events leading up to the catastrophe and the horrific facts of the encounter that proved fatal.
He described Phelokazi and Baja’s turbulent past, saying, “They were in a relationship, they had a child, and they broke up.”
Though Baja moved on to another lady, he hoped to revive his passion with Phelokazi, but she firmly refused his advances.
Siphosethu remembers hearing a disturbance outside on the fatal day of the tragedy, but he originally wrote it off as far-off noise. He had no idea that his sister’s life would be brutally taken by the man she had loved a short while later.
He succeeded in persuading her to go somewhere so they could converse. She consented, and before they could even get out of the yard, he hit, stabbed, and then chopped her throat. He bemoaned, “She had a deep gash in her neck.”
The quick action taken by the community after seeing the violent confrontation highlights the shock and sorrow that the incident’s witnesses felt as a whole.
