Paris Saint-Germain crushed Inter Miami 4-0 with all goals coming before half-time.
What was meant to be a high-profile reunion for Lionel Messi against his former club ended in a harsh lesson. PSG were clinical, fast, and ruthless, leaving Inter Miami trailing from the very start.
João Neves put the French side ahead just six minutes in, heading home with little resistance. Fabian Ruiz thought he’d doubled the lead but saw his strike ruled out for offside.
Neves got his second in the 39th minute, finishing a smooth team move. Moments later, Tomas Aviles accidentally put the ball into his net. PSG weren’t done—Achraf Hakimi added a fourth just before the half-time whistle.
By the break, PSG had not only scored four but had outdone Miami’s entire attacking output. While the French side had four goals, Miami had only completed three passes in the final third.
Despite the disaster around him, Messi kept pushing. He took four shots and made 17 final-third passes—more than any teammate. But Gianluigi Donnarumma stood tall, saving the best of Messi’s chances late in the second half.
PSG relaxed after the break, happy to manage the lead. The game turned into a training ground display, with Miami unable to mount a serious threat. Their six-match unbeaten run ended without a whimper.
For Messi, Suarez, Busquets, and coach Mascherano—all part of Barcelona’s legendary comeback over PSG years ago—this was the other side of that memory. This time, it was PSG doing the punishing.
The French champions move into the next round with 111 goals scored in just 39 matches this season. For Inter Miami, it’s back to the drawing board.
