President Ruto's PA Farouk Kibet Goes After Uhuru, Accuses Him of Dishing Out Money to Fund Political Meetings

President Ruto’s personal aide Farouk Kibet has accused retired President Uhuru Kenyatta of financing political meetings aimed at causing divisions across the country.

Speaking on Tuesday, February 17, during campaigns for a UDA candidate in the upcoming West Kabras ward by-election, Farouk alleged that the retired president was dishing out money to certain politicians to organise what he termed as illegitimate meetings in major towns.

He claimed the funds being used were taken from Kenyans during Uhuru’s time in office.

Farouk warned that the government would move to block the money allegedly being distributed. He questioned why a retired president would engage in activities that he said were promoting divisions among Kenyans.

The head of state’s powerful PA maintained that the current administration would not allow politics that undermine national unity.

“Uhuru Kenyatta, I want to tell you that the money you are dishing out recklessly will be blocked by the government, and there is nothing you can do about it. Who does he think he is? Isn’t he a retired president? We will not entertain politics of division in this country,” Farouk Kibet said.

Although Farouk did not directly mention individuals, his remarks appeared to echo claims by some pro-government ODM leaders who have accused Uhuru of backing the faction allied to Nairobi Edwin Sifuna.

Sifuna and a group of rebel ODM leaders have been holding what they call Linda Mwananchi forums in different parts of the country.

The meetings began in Busia town two weeks ago before moving to Kitengela in Kajiado last week. The team is expected to tour Kakamega County on Saturday.

Farouk linked the meetings to Uhuru’s efforts to discredit President Ruto’s government. He also accused the retired president of neglecting the people of Western Kenya during his presidency.
