Pep Guardiola says he hopes winger Savinho will stay at Manchester City for “many years.”

As Manchester City prepare to kick off their Premier League campaign away to Wolves, Pep Guardiola addressed transfer speculation surrounding Savinho, who impressed with 48 appearances in his debut season.

“I hope Savinho stays many, many years because of his potential,” Guardiola told reporters. “But in the end, the desire of the player is above everything.”

Tottenham Hotspur, under new manager Thomas Frank, are said to be keen on the Brazilian winger as they seek attacking options following Son Heung-min’s exit and James Maddison’s long-term injury.

Guardiola admitted that if a player wanted to leave, he would not stand in their way:

“If they want to leave, they will knock on my door. Tottenham or any other club should call the club.”

Savinho is currently sidelined for “a few weeks” after sustaining an injury during pre-season. On a positive note, Rodri is expected to travel with the squad to Wolves, though Guardiola stressed his return would be carefully managed after last season’s knee issues.

City have also trimmed their squad, with Jack Grealish completing a move to Everton after a challenging two-year spell at the Etihad. Guardiola wished him well, saying:

“I wish Jack all the best at a traditional club like Everton.”

Youngster James McAtee is also close to sealing a transfer to Nottingham Forest.
