A pool table prodigy, a politician’s promise, and a future reborn across borders
A feel-good story is warming hearts across East Africa — and it started with a game of pool. Oscar Sudi, the outspoken Kapseret MP, has stepped up to sponsor the education of 13-year-old Herbert Mukisa, a young Ugandan pool sensation widely known as Dynamite Kid.
Mukisa shot into the spotlight during the Timba-XO International Pool Tournament, where his control, confidence, and sharp skill at such a young age left many stunned, including Sudi.
From Pool Hall to the Classroom
Deeply touched by Mukisa’s journey and challenges, Sudi publicly announced that he would take care of the teen’s education moving forward.
“I met this talented boy from Uganda and I’ve committed to sponsoring his schooling,” Sudi posted.
True to his word, Mukisa is now enrolled at Landmark Junior School in Zzana, Uganda — and he didn’t go empty-handed. Sudi also gifted him a personal pool table, telling him to pursue both school and sport with equal energy.
Images shared online captured moments of Mukisa training with the MP at Sudi’s entertainment spot — a modern pool lounge fitted with state-of-the-art tables and TV screens.
The contrast was clear: a village boy from humble beginnings, now getting a shot at his dreams under the bright lights. Yet, Dynamite Kid kept his focus, his cue steady and his mind sharp.
Sudi’s gesture has gone viral, attracting praise from both Kenyan and Ugandan social media users. Many described it as an act of leadership and humanity, especially in times when such stories are rare.
“This is the kind of empowerment we need — real action, not just words,” one user wrote.
Others said the MP had gone beyond politics, showing that uplifting one young life could inspire an entire region.
Mukisa’s story isn’t just about pool — it’s about hope. Sudi’s support now gives him a new path, far from the struggle of hustling for school fees in dusty backstreets.
And with East Africa now watching his next steps, Dynamite Kid is no longer just a nickname — he’s a symbol of how talent, when met with opportunity, can change everything.
