Truphena Muthoni was seen sitting with Principal Secretary Festus Ng’eno, and this meeting later caused a lot of talk among people. Truphena said PS Ng’eno failed to sign papers that were very important.
These papers were to allow her go to Brazil and do the 72-hour tree-hugging challenge. Without those papers, she could not be allowed to perform the challenge in Brazil as an official record attempt.
Truphena said she had planned everything well. She had prepared her body, her mind, and her time. She said the tree-hugging challenge was not for jokes or fame.

It was to talk about climate change, saving trees, and protecting the environment. She wanted to carry the Kenyan flag and make the country proud on an international level.
She explained that she visited offices many times and tried to follow all the steps needed. She said she waited for the final signature from PS Festus Ng’eno, but it did not come on time. Because of this delay, her travel plans were spoiled, and her dream to perform the challenge in Brazil was affected badly.
People from the ministry later said things are not that simple. They said government work follows rules and takes time. They said no paper can be signed just because someone is in a hurry. Some also said there were some things missing in her documents, and that is why the process delayed.
After the photo of Truphena with PS Ng’eno came out, many Kenyans started talking online. Some people supported Truphena and said young people who want to protect the environment are not supported enough. Others said she should be patient and respect government systems.
Even with all this, Truphena said she has not given up. She said she will continue speaking about saving trees and caring for the environment. Her story made many people start asking hard questions about how Kenya supports young climate champions with big dreams.
