Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has delivered a stark warning about Kenya’s evolving political landscape, asserting that none of the current political formations will make it to the 2027 general elections ballot.

Speaking during his Friday night interview on NTV on December 26, 2025, Nyoro painted a grim picture of Kenya’s opposition space while cautioning against premature party formations.

“In Kenya now there is no opposition. When you have a government that can ride on the ignorance of the people not having information, they become a monster,” Nyoro stated, highlighting the dangers of unchecked governance.

The influential legislator was particularly critical of recent political party formations, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy Citizens Party (DCP). “The parties you know currently and the formations as they are now, none will be on the ballot in 2027,” he declared boldly.

Nyoro argued that these parties are being formed too early, drawing lessons from Kenya’s political history.

He noted that successful parties, including the current ruling UDA, were typically established just a year before elections, not years in advance.

“Past political parties that have won, including current UDA, were formed just a year to elections,” Nyoro observed, suggesting that premature formations often lose momentum and relevance before election day arrives.

His comments come as Kenya witnesses a proliferation of new political vehicles, with over 25 parties obtaining provisional registration and more than 30 others seeking registration ahead of the 2027 polls.

The MP’s analysis reflects growing concerns about Kenya’s weakened opposition following ODM’s entry into a broad-based government arrangement with President Ruto and the death of longtime opposition leader Raila Odinga in October 2025.

Nyoro’s prediction of political realignment before 2027 suggests he anticipates significant shifts in Kenya’s political landscape, with current formations potentially collapsing or merging as the election approaches.

His warning serves as a reality check for politicians investing heavily in early party-building efforts.
