Mohamed Salah wins the PFA Men’s Player of the Year for a record third time.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been crowned the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) men’s player of the year, becoming the first footballer ever to win the award three times.
The 33-year-old forward was a key figure in Liverpool’s Premier League triumph last season, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 29 goals while also creating 18 assists.
This latest honour adds to Salah’s growing list of individual achievements, which already include the Premier League player of the season and the Football Writers’ Association footballer of the year.
Speaking about his journey, Salah reflected on his rise from Nagrig, a small village in Egypt, to global stardom.
“Of course, I wanted to be a football player and I wanted to be famous and provide for my family, but you don’t think about the big stuff when you are still in Egypt. When you grow, you start to see things differently, and you start to have ambition and you start to see the bigger picture,” he said.
Salah beat strong competition from Alexis Mac Allister, Bruno Fernandes, Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer and Declan Rice.
In other awards, Aston Villa’s 22-year-old midfielder Morgan Rogers won the young player of the year after a breakout season that helped his club push for European football.
Former England manager Gareth Southgate was also honoured with the PFA merit award for his service to the game, including leading England to two consecutive European Championship finals.
Salah’s win confirms his place as one of the greatest players of the Premier League era.
