Manchester City are close to finalising a new long-term deal for 21-year-old winger Savinho.
Manchester City are nearing an agreement with winger Savinho on a new long-term contract, according to club sources.
The 21-year-old Brazilian was signed from Troyes in 2024 for £30.8m. He featured in 48 matches across all competitions last season, scoring three goals.
During the last transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur opened talks to sign the winger. However, City sources confirmed that the club was not willing to sell him, viewing him as part of their long-term plans.
Savinho has made four appearances this season, including scoring in City’s 2-0 Carabao Cup victory against Huddersfield on Wednesday.
Speaking before City’s Premier League clash with Burnley, manager Pep Guardiola highlighted the winger’s potential and areas for improvement.
“For the people up front, it is always about numbers – goals and assists. Savinho created a lot last season, but in the final third, the final moment, he was a little bit too hectic.”
Guardiola expressed confidence that with age and experience, Savinho will develop into an elite player.
“The moment he learns that, because he is so young, the more he improves, he will be a top-class player because he can play on both sides, he has got the speed and the work ethic. Savio will make this step; naturally, it will come, and he will be a top player for Man City.”
