CAF fines Kenya USD 50,000 (% KSh 6.5M) for repeated safety and security breaches.

Kenya has been handed a USD 50,000 fine by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over multiple breaches of match safety and security regulations during recent international fixtures.

CAF’s disciplinary board said the violations showed a “clear failure” to meet minimum safety obligations.

The continental body cautioned that persistent non-compliance could force Harambee Stars to play their home matches in neutral venues outside Kenya, a move that would significantly impact fan attendance and match-day revenues.

This latest sanction comes just months after CAF hit Kenya with a KSh 1.9 million fine for similar safety lapses during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In addition to the fine, CAF has placed a strict limit of 27,000 spectators for all Harambee Stars matches. The restriction will apply as early as Sunday’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) clash against Zambia at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

CAF stressed that security measures are essential for protecting players, officials, and fans, warning that all federations must adhere to international standards without compromise.
